THE GUIDELINES FOR MAKING DAVE'S CHICKEN.
Do's for Dave's Hot Chicken:
- Start with a milder spice level if you're new to Dave's. It's a flavor journey, not a race to the hottest bite.
- Pair with pickles; they're the sidekick that balances the spicy superhero. Trust the classic combo
- Adjust the heat to your liking. It's your chicken; make it dance to your preferred spice beat.
Don'ts for Dave's Hot Chicken:
- Avoid piling on conflicting flavors. Let the spice shine without drowning it in a clash of condiments.
- Don't underestimate the heat, especially if you're a first-timer. Build up to the spice level; it's a friendly burn, not a challenge.
- No rush. Crispy perfection takes time, so be patient. Your taste buds will thank you for the crunch.
- Keep the sides light; let Dave's Hot Chicken be the star. Heavy sides might steal the spicy spotlight.
- Less is more with the sauce. A balanced touch lets the flavors mingle without overwhelming your taste buds.
CAN WE SUBSITUTE THE INGREDIENTS?
This is the most frequently requested question, and the answer is "yes" you can, but only for some of the ingredients, such as butter milk and Hot sauce. However, if you want the same Dave's style hot chicken flavor, we don't usually recommend it.
DIRECTIONS:
MARINATE THE CHICKEN:
- Take a bowl and add all 3 of the chicken breast pieces.
- Now add the white pepper powder, chilli powder, and salt and mix well until the chicken is completely coated.
- Set aside the chicken for 30 minutes to marinate
- In a separate bowl, combine the butter milk, hot sauce, whisked egg, and salt. Mix it thoroughly.
- Refrigerate it for 1-3 hours after adding the marinated chicken.
NOTE: We recommend marinating the chicken for 2-3 hours before cooking.
TIME TO PREPARE THE COATING FLOUR:
- Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour to a separate bowl.
- Then mix in 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 3/4 teaspoon white pepper powder, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, and 2 teaspoon salt.
- In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine all of the ingredients.
- Place the marinated chicken pieces in the flour and coat them equally on all sides.
- Repeat with the remaining chicken pieces. Make sure to lightly press the flour onto the chicken pieces.
LETS FRY THE CHICKEN:
- Pour the oil into a pan and heat it to 190°C/375°F.
- Drop the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil one at a time. You can also arrange them together if your pan is large enough.
- For the first minute, do not stir them.
- Turn over the hot chicken pieces after 1 minute.
- Fry them for another 5-6 minutes on medium heat.
- Continue to fry until golden.
- They are ready to serve when they are golden brown in color.
